Sam founded Southern Cross in 2005 after identifying a need for competitive, customer-focused security in the industry. Prior to this had held progressively senior roles within some of Australia’s largest security companies. Having been recognised as the WSABE Young Entrepreneur of 2014, Sam continues to lead the company with pride and confidence. Sam Johnson established the Southern Cross Group (SCG) business in 2005 with four team members in Sydney. The business has undergone a remarkable transformation since its humble beginnings to become one of Australia’s leading providers of integrated service solutions employing staff in Australia and overseas to support our business growth. Sam continues to inspire the Management team and staff at Southern Cross Group and has gained respect from the business community. Sam has over 10 years senior management experience in integrated service delivery, allowing him to develop and maintain excellent client relationships. Sam holds formal education in business management and risk management, as well as Australian Government Security Negative Vetting Level 1. As founder and CEO of Southern Cross Group, Sam has rapidly expanded his business, quickly becoming a major player in the industry. Sam has established a highly recognised organisation that holds a competitive stance among other provider in regard to service delivery, capability, expertise and cost. With experience in legal awareness, Sam has proven himself an excellent leader for the ever-growing company.

Sam’s impressive career path has seen him accomplish an incredible amount in a relatively short time, holding progressively senior roles since joining the security industry. He seeks to set himself and Southern Cross Group apart by placing customer services as the central focus for the company. This ideal has been recognised in a number of clients including:

Rapidly expanding to a global company, Sam has assisted in building tailored service packages from the ground up in a range of market sectors including retail, construction, education, and government. Sam’s diverse experience has granted him an advanced level of insight in relation to the most up to date technologies and market trends, and a comprehensive understanding of what is required on-site from service personnel. Sam has been awarded the 2014 North West Sydney Business Awards under the category The Young Entrepreneur. This award recognises an inspirational young person who, through their own commitment and passion, has built and operates a successful business.

He has over 24 years’ experience in the security services industry and related vertical markets. His global experience includes consultation and lecturing services throughout the Middle East and the USA. He has played a significant role within the government and industry regulators across Australia on various councils and standards committees.

Graduating from the University of Sydney with a Masters of Commerce, Accounting and Finance, Lin possesses comprehensive knowledge of Taxation, Financial Reporting and Management Reporting. She has provided expert financial advice to the security and soft service industry for over 10 years. With Lin’s extensive knowledge and experience, she continues to help lead Southern Cross Group to continuing success.

Steve has over 25 years of operational experience in the security industry, with over 20 years at management level. He brings a wealth of knowledge gained from the retail and hospitality sectors, as well as large-scale government contracts, including major public sites and universities, sporting and public events. Steve has also been involved with VIP and close protection work, risk management, covert security and multi-site asset protection, enabling him to bring an insightful and targeted focus to all clients. Steve has actively sought higher education in the security and management fields, keeping abreast of the latest regulations and industry standards. He holds a Certificate IV in Retail Management and a Diploma in Security and Risk Management. Steve’s management style ensures he really knows his clients – their needs and wants – building teams that will deliver the level of security and professionalism that our client’s businesses demand.

Yasheel is the National Traffic Manager for Southern Cross Group, he oversees all traffic management requirements nationally. Graduating from the Central Queensland University with a Master of Information Technology, Yasheel brings a wealth of knowledge backed by almost 10 years in the traffic management industry. His ability to work to strict deadlines, together with the ability to build strong relationships with customers our clients can be assured of high standard of service. Yasheel’s passion, drive and a strong belief in exceptional customer service ensures Southern Cross Traffic flourishes under his leadership.
